Remembering Carlos "Dodie" Bailey

Celebrating the life and legacy of Carlos "Dodie" Bailey, a man of faith, family, and fantastic smoked meats. This page is dedicated to honoring his memory and sharing the stories that made him so special.

A Life Rooted in Faith, Family, and Purpose

Carlos “Dodie” Bailey, of Pasadena, California, and Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. Born November 19, 1962, he was the beloved baby of eighteen siblings. Carlos lived with one foot in Pasadena and the other in Jacksonville, spiritually and generationally bridging family, faith, and community across both coasts.

A Gifted Mechanic and Legendary Pit Master

Affectionately known as “Dodie,” Carlos was a gifted mechanic who could fix just about anything, leading him to open Bailey’s Auto Repair. He was also a skilled truck driver and a legendary pit master. If Dodie was on the grill, the food would be good, and the laughter would be plenty.

A Protector and Pillar of His Family

Above all, Carlos was a protector and pillar of his family. He walked closely beside his father, Robert “RB” Bailey, carrying forward his father’s legacy with honor. He was a praying man and a devoted member of All for Jesus Community Church, where he was ordained as a Deacon.

"Dodie had a way of lightening serious moments, making people laugh, and reminding everyone not to take life too hard—but to live it faithfully and fully."

Words to Dad

Dearest Dad,

Ten years apart, yet equally blessed by your love. That number became a symbol of completeness and strength—two lives shaped in different seasons, made whole by the same steady devotion. You gave us guidance, resilience, and memories that time can never erase. We will carry you with us always.

With all our love,

Your daughters,

Brandee (Brand) & Brittany (Britt / Brat)

Man I Love you Dad, I keep having these moments when I'm by myself where I break down, I'm so use to our daily phone calls it's only been a couple of weeks but I Miss you like crazy. One of the people in my life I could talk to about any & everything without being judged, we've told each other things that only the two of us will ever know about. I can honestly say DAD that we've been through it all together, its been me & you for 48 years I'm keeping it together for all of my siblings but this is Hard. No worries though I'm built for this, you made sure I was strong enough to handle it 💪🏾 love you Forever My TRIPLE OG!!!
